Of Generous Spirit

Standing there, looking at the upside down name, Gibbs knew he had drunk too much.  But it was finished now:  the Kelly.

His vision blurred.  From bourbon?

“She is beautiful, Jethro, your homage to our daughter.”

Shannon was there, in front of him, yet he could see the black letters through her.

“Your tribute is complete.  Now you must move on.”

“Move on?” he mumbled.  “More bourbon?”

“Love him, Jethro, as you know you need to love him.”

“Him?”

“Tony.  He is waiting.  Complete him.”

She smiled then faded away.

She had always had – and been - a generous spirit.

Oh... this is sweet. I think if Shannon had had the opportunity that is probably what she would have told Gibbs. She might even have made a rule about it ;)

This is beautiful, it's so true that Shannon would want Gibbs to move on and be happy and the fact that it's Tony he'll be moving on with just completes it perfectly. Glad you posted again I have missed your fics :)

I've always loved the idea of Shannon bringing them together, and this was a great way of showing it. She was spirited enough to deal with him before, making sure he did was was necessary, so of course now, when it really counts, she'll make sure he gets what he needs. And I love that she likes Tony enough to want to help him too! I've always thought that if she'd lived, she and Tony would be great friends.

And then they could share Gibbs. >>
