Tony DiNardo left her apartment, transforming to Tony DiNozzo with every step. Director Shepard had put him in a devastating position, because he couldn’t let her know why this assignment was so damn wrong.

He went back to the office, so he could say that he’d been working late, before he went home to Gibbs. He refused to lie to him.

Gibbs met him at his desk, appearing as he often did, from nowhere. He grabbed Tony’s arm then deliberately leaned in to sniff his neck.

“Busted,” he growled then walked away.

Tony watched him leave.

“No,” he whispered.  “Wrecked.”
